Women Veterans Tele-Town Hall Meeting Stats

Friday, November 24, 2017
Tomah VA Medical Center continues to introduce innovative means to assist Veterans. Recently, a Tele-Town Hall focusing on women Veterans was held November 8, 2017.A Tele-Town Hall is a form of mass outreach done via telephone that many elected officials, political candidates, non-profit organizations, and businesses have been using for several years. The targeted audience receives a personalized, pre-recorded message from Director Victoria Brahm inviting them to remain on the line if they wish to be transferred automatically to our live Veterans Tele-Town Hall event.
“Overall, 329 women accepted our call and that’s approx. 25% of the target population. These results are similar to the response rate at other facilities,” said Clelia Taylor, Women Veterans Program Manager.
When joining the meeting, participants have the opportunity to ask a VA panel consisting of the Director, physicians and other subject matter experts, questions live, as well as to respond to integrated Survey Questions using their phone keypads. Participants, who are unable to ask their questions live, have the option to leave a personal message with a Call Screener or a Tele-Town Hall voicemail at the conclusion of the meeting.
“The comments made by women during the call & afterwards (voice mail messages) indicate they were very pleased to have this opportunity,” said Taylor. “Several women asked us to hold more of these events.”
Following the Tele-Town Hall event, Tomah VA receive a detailed report complete with participant statistics as well as a digital recording of the event and access to the voicemail messages left during the call.
“The summary report and stats of the event contain results of the polling questions. These will be used to support development of future services for women,” said Taylor.
