“… assist and empower each Veteran to obtain the tools and resources needed to improve their lives.”
I have always had a passion for helping others improve their lives. A lot of credit needs to be given to my wonderful mother who has had a major influence on me growing up. She is an Adult Family Home provider, caring for individuals who are not able to care for themselves independently. She has been caring for two people at a time in their home since I was in the 4th grade. She has been and continues to be a great role model to me both personally and professionally (and so has my wonderful father). J
From a young age, I have had many aspirations and goals in life to help improve the lives of others. With some perseverance and hard work, I continue to meet those goals. After high school, I earned a Bachelor's degree in both Psychology and Human Development at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Immediately following, I attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I received a Master's in Social Work. During this time I gained a vast and diverse amount of work experience, which began in high school, and continued while going to college full-time. All of the experiences have been exceptional and have taught me a wealth of information that I apply today.
I feel very fortunate to have gotten this outpatient social work position at the Tomah VA immediately after completing graduate school. It has been a very valuable experience for me thus far. I am honored to work with Veterans. To me, it is my way of giving back to those who served (and continue to serve) our country to keep us free. One of my most rewarding experiences was when a Veteran drove down to Tomah…he didn’t have an appointment…to thank me for helping him. It was very humbling experience. Outside of work , I enjoy doing many things in the summer that include spending time with my family and friends, shopping, swimming, having cookouts, reading a good book and enjoying the hot summer weather. Go Badgers! Go Packers! Go Brewers!
“What I’m doing now is as important to me as anything that I have ever done and hope I’m giving back as much to our Veterans as they gave to our country.”
