Get easy filing, and faster payments with BTSSS

Veterans and caregivers eligible for beneficiary travel benefits never again wonder about the status of your claim or wait 45 days or longer for a payment. From now on, file your claims online with the Beneficiary Travel Self-Service System (BTSSS). The portal is VA’s preferred method to receive claims and supporting documentation for reimbursement of general health care travel. This includes regular transportation expenses, such as personally-owned vehicle miles driven and tolls with receipt.

Veterans and caregivers submit your travel claims online. BTSSS users enjoy both speed and convenience. The benefits of using the portal include:

  • Access 24/7/365 from your PC, tablet or smart phone;
  • Faster payments and direct deposit;
  • Ability to check the status of your claim anytime, anywhere;
  • Prefilled appointments, mileage, and other information that make filing a claim easier than ever.

Get started in four easy steps

 Step 1: Start direct deposit from VA

If you do not have direct deposit set up already, you will need to complete and return VA Form 10091. You will need your bank’s name and account and routing numbers to set up direct deposit. The form can be faxed or hand delivered to the local beneficiary travel office.

Step 2: Create a DS Logon Level 2 (Premium) Account

A DS Logon Level 2 (Premium) account is the same as an eBenefits Premium account, but is different from a My HealtheVet account. If you do not have a DS Logon, or you are not sure, you can register, verify or update your DS Logon account from the DoD DS Logon Access Center.

Step 3: Create a BTSSS Profile

Log into BTSSS and choose “Proceed to Profile Review.” Enter or save any updates to your personal, contact, or banking information. Once finished, choose “Request Profile Updates” to send a notification to the beneficiary travel office at the nearest VA medical center. You will receive a notice when the updates are complete.

Step 4: File or Track a Claim

With your profile created, you are now ready to file or track the status of a submitted claim.
